About what or whom? Well first of all, it is not about me. It’s all about the One who created, saved, and sustains my soul. In gratitude I write and muse and argue for a correct understanding of who He is. My every detail will not be correct but the source of truth, the Word of God, is. Beyond believing in Jesus, I am a husband, father of 5, grandfather of 14, retired Science teacher, outdoorsman-climbing, hiking, view-monger, less so into backpacking, mountain biking, and canoeing these days as once, and I like to discuss substantive issues. Use the contact tab above to get my attention. I will answer your questions and send an e-mail address. I would enjoy your comments of encouragement or criticism and invite discussion.

Nice job! Still reading through the posts.
Thank you for the post on Linville Gorge from 2020. I used to love bushwhacking the old Sandy Flats Trail but couldn’t really find half of it anymore after landslides from a big storm in 2017. I’m sorry for your experience on it but it’s cool to hear that people still try to find it. I think some fishermen still use it even now.
Your comment is cool on several levels. First of all, comments are rare, and someone taking the time to put their thoughts on the sight are valued. Secondly, that someone is going back and reading entries from that long ago is reason to keep it up and continue blogging. Thirdly, and most gratifying to me is to hear from a fellow hiker and bushwhacker about a shared love of the outdoors and hidden away places. I readily believe that the fishermen are still using it since the time I was there, there were occasional surveyor’s tape on trees to mark the way. I spend more time rock climbing at the moment, but I hike in for that, and I still have places I want to visit and revisit. Keep spending time in the outdoors and enjoy!
