If failure is profitable success ought to be a real upper, right? It can be quite beneficial for “It is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich, and He adds no sorrow to it” (Proverbs 10:22), but be careful: “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before stumbling” (Proverbs 16:18). I was thinking about the hugely rich and successful athletes and the computer dot com-mers when I wrote this poem. The point is to “Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed” (I Timothy 6:17-19). Yes, it speaks of money and goods but success of any kind is a capital of sorts that should be spent wisely.
